Signing Russian-Croatian intergovernmental agreement on mutual aid in customs affairs

February 18, the 5th session of Intergovernmental Russian-Croatian Commission on trade and economic and scientific and technical cooperation took place in Moscow.

Chairman of the Russian part of the Commission, Ministry of the Russian Federation for Affairs of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Sergei Shoigu headed the Russian Federation delegation. Chairman of the Croatian part of the Commission, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, Labour and Enterpreneurship of the Republic of Croatia Damir Polanиec represented the delegation of the Republic of Croatia.

The session resulted in signing the agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Croatia on mutual aid in customs affairs. The agreement was signed by First Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Service Vladimir Malinin Chairman of the Croatian part of the Commission, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economics, Labour and Enterprise of the Republic of Croatia Damir Polanиec.

The agreement will allow establishing of long-term basis of the two countries’ cooperation.

Upon the signed agreement Russian and Croatian customs services are to render mutual assistance aimed at providing transportation of goods and passengers between the two states, exchange of information, which may be helpful in maintaining due application of customs legislation, prevention, investigation and preclusion of customs offence.

Moreover, the agreement prescribes exchanging information of goods, transported from the territory of the state of one of the contracting parties to the territory of the state of the other contracting party.

The agreement also touches upon a wide range of cooperation questions in law protection sphere.

The parties also emphasized the importance of top-level and expert contacts for the development of Russian-Croatian trade and economic relationship.
