In the period from 8 to 12 of April 2013, the delegation of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, headed by Mr.Vladimir Malinin, First Deputy Head of the FCS of Russia, paid a visit to the Customs and Tariff Bureau of Ministry of Finance of Japan.

During the visit, a number of meetings with the Customs and Tariff Bureau delegation, headed by acting CEO Kazuhiko Ishihara, were held. The aim was to discuss the issues of the customs collaboration development. Moreover, the meetings with the business community representatives on the base of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), an organization that unites the country's largest companies, industry associations, and economic groups, took place.

During the meeting with the management of the Customs and Tariff Bureau, the issues of the development of the legal framework, cooperation in the law enforcement domain, and the activities of the customs services in the context of the World Customs Organization were discussed.

The Russian delegation introduced the Japanese business representatives to the Russian FCS activities in the sphere of simplification and acceleration of the customs procedures, including implementation of the electronic declaration, the preliminary informing procedure, and the risk management system. In addition, there was an exchange of views with representatives of the business community, when specific problems of the Japanese business in Russia were discussed.

The Japanese party welcomed the initiative of the Federal Customs Service of Russia to hold seminars on customs issues in Japan and expressed its willingness to organize such events.

The delegation of the Russian FCS also visited the regional customs office "Yokohama", where they got acquainted in particular with the work of the state-of-the-art inspection complex and the Monitoring Centre.
