The customs service improves the efficiency of application of enforcement network CEN of the WCO

The all-Russian seminar-workshop on the implementation and use of the customs enforcement network CEN of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and its applications in the FCS of Russia was held in Nizhny Novgorod. The event was attended by representatives of the General Department for Anti-Smuggling of the FCS of Russia, the management of the Volga Region Operational Customs House and the officers of operational and analytical, as well as operational and investigative divisions of operational customs houses and customs houses directly subordinated to the FCS of Russia.

The participants of the meeting considered the issue of coordination of activity of operational and analytical departments of customs authorities and the use of international law instrument instruments of the WCO in order to intensify the global exchange by law enforcement data. The officers of law enforcement departments of Russian customs authorities got familiar with the structure and functions of the network, learned to enter information on smuggling arrests to databases and to carry out its analysis.

The FCS of Russia operates under integration processes occurring in the territory of Russia and CIS countries. They include functioning of the Customs Union, the development of the transport corridor between Europe and Asia, entering the World Trade Organization. All these processes require effective information exchange. The information and analytical system CEN of the WTO allows customs services of Russia, member countries of the CIS and the Customs Union to participate in the exchange of information on a global scale.

This seminar is the second event aiming at training the officers of law enforcement units of territorial customs authorities of the Russian Federation, held by the CDAS of the FCS of Russia. The previous seminar held last year, showed the importance of timely technical and methodological assistance to law enforcement departments in the development of constantly updated CEN information system of the WCO, which is known as an effective international information, communication and analytical tool used in the 165 member countries of the WCO.
