On the first meeting of the Russian-Japanese working group on customs cooperation

In pursuance of the Memorandum on cooperation in the field of customs cooperation and trade facilitation between Russia and Japan dated April 13, 2017, on June 8, 2017 in Moscow, the first meeting of the Russian-Japanese working group on customs cooperation was held.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues on the creation of conditions for the development of foreign economic activity, increase in the trade turnover between the countries, simplification and acceleration of customs operations for bona fide importers and exporters of goods.

The parties exchanged views on the use of information on exporters, which activities are characterized by high/low levels of risk of violation of customs legislation during the exercise of customs control.

An agreement was reached to organize the exchange of law enforcement information on a reciprocal basis.

The Japanese party invited representatives of the FCS of Russia to pay a working visit to Japan for the next meeting of the Working Group. Within the framework of this event, the parties agreed to consider the possibility of a joint seminar for representatives of the Japanese business community.
