Information from the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation: starting from January 1, 2019 duty-free limit for private goods will be reduced to EUR 500 and 25 kg

Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation informs that starting from January 1, 2019 the limit for private goods imported into the EAEU countries by individuals via land and water transport shall be set to value equal to EUR 500 and/or 25 kg in weight.

This decision was passed by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission on November 1, 2018 (On amending Decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission No. 107 dated December 20, 2017).

New limits of duty-free goods import for private goods cover import of goods by road, by railways, on marine and river transport, as well as on foot. For goods imported by air the limits will remain the same: up to EUR 10000 and 50 kg.

In case specified limits are exceeded, the duty in the amount of 30% of the value of goods is applied, but no less than EUR 4 per kilogram as applied to the excess in value or in weight.
